Clay is where I bury my secrets.
As a transcontinental transplant with roots in India, Ireland, Mexico, and New York City, my work challenges the arbitrary borders—cultural, political, and ecological—that attempt to define us. A life of code-switching and cultural paradoxes has made sociopolitical labels feel limiting to me, so I use sculpture to test the permeable edges of identity and borders. Clay—ancient, fluid and capable of holding multitudes—offers me infinite possibilities to reject the imposed boundaries of human systems.
